Apple announced a suite of updates today for its Creator Studio subscription, the Final Cut Camera app on iOS, and several productivity and creative applications across iPhone, iPad and Mac. The changes bring variable aperture control to the iPhone 18 Pro, expanded professional video tools, new templates for Pages, Numbers and Keynote, and AI‑enhanced features in Freeform.
Final Cut Camera gains variable aperture and pro‑level controls
The Final Cut Camera app, Apple’s professional filming tool for iPhone, now supports the variable aperture hardware found on the iPhone 18 Pro. Users can adjust the aperture manually and choose between aperture‑priority and shutter‑priority shooting modes. In addition, the app adds support for Cinematic mode effects, allowing creators to manipulate focus points and depth of field after capture.
Apple says the interface was rebuilt from the ground up to surface advanced settings such as shutter angle, ISO and white balance more intuitively. New overlay options include false‑color and clipping indicators for exposure, while focus peaking has been refined with a sensitivity control. A tally light now illuminates when recording is active, and a two‑finger tap gesture clears the viewfinder for rapid re‑framing.
Professional video workflows also benefit from added scopes, a clean SDI output and genlock offset capabilities, expanding the app’s utility in broadcast‑style productions.
iWork and creative apps receive templates, functions and AI tools
Pages, Numbers and Keynote each gain fresh templates and themes. Keynote introduces an intelligent slide‑generation feature, while Numbers adds trigonometry, statistics and logic functions to support more complex spreadsheet calculations. The Mac version of Pages now offers a Screen View mode designed to optimize content for reading and writing.
Pixelmator Pro for iPad receives new template collections on both Mac and iPad, aimed at jump‑starting ideas, businesses or product concepts. A dedicated Podcasts category provides cover‑artwork options, and the iPad app incorporates the Select and Mask tool from the Mac version for precise selection and masking.
Mac video apps and Freeform get AI‑driven enhancements
Final Cut Pro and Motion on macOS add an option to apply Cinematic mode effects to footage captured on the iPhone 18 Pro, enabling focus‑point and depth‑of‑field adjustments directly in the timeline. Compressor now supports converting video with Cinematic mode effects back to the original Cinematic format and introduces new HEVC and MPEG‑4 export presets.
Freeform receives automatic Dark Mode support for boards, new folder organization features, and Writing Tools powered by Apple Intelligence. Writing Tools can rewrite, proofread and summarize handwritten notes. In visionOS 27, the Vision Pro version of Freeform lets multiple users pull items from a board into a shared 3D space, allowing collaborative viewing of 3D models.
All of the updates are available immediately. Apple Creator Studio, priced at $12.99 per month, provides subscribers with access to Apple’s full lineup of creative software, including Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro. For free apps such as Numbers, Pages and Keynote, the subscription unlocks premium features that are not part of the standard offering.
