The images, shared by CEO Jim Farley on the social platform X, display two four‑door crew‑cab trucks with a low stance, a conventional hood and a short, boxy bed – a design that contrasts sharply with Farley’s August 2025 comment that the vehicle would be “not a pickup” but rather a “new silhouette.”
Prototype Appearance Defies Expectations
Despite thick black camouflage covering much of the front and rear, the overall shape of the prototypes is unmistakably that of a traditional pickup. The cab appears to be a standard crew‑cab layout, and the bed is short and rectangular. While the front end is hidden, Ford has previously highlighted extensive aerodynamic work on the Fathom, suggesting a more rounded nose that curves downward. The low placement of the headlights in the prototype hints at this intended styling, even though the current view looks more upright than the illustration Ford has released.
Similarly, the rear of the cab is obscured, leaving open the possibility that the final production model could feature a less vertical profile. Nonetheless, the visible proportions confirm that the vehicle will be a pickup rather than a novel body style.
Key Technical Features
