DMRC Hikes Metro Fares after Eight Years; Check Out the Increased Prices

Commuters travelling via Delhi Metro will have to pay slightly higher fares, as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has revised passenger charges effective August 25. The commuters will pay an increased fare ranging from INR 1 – 4, depending on the distance across different slabs.

The fare on the Airport Express line has been hiked by up to INR 5. The DMRC has announced a hike in fares for Metro services in the national capital after eight long years, making travelling on the city’s transport lifeline more expensive.

The passenger fares of the Delhi Metro services have been revised with effect from today, that is, 25th August 2025 (Monday) onwards. The increase is minimal, ranging from ₹ 1 to ₹ 4 only depending on the distance of travel (up to ₹5 for the Airport Express Line),” DMRC shared via a post on their official X account.

The fare hike comes just weeks after the Delhi Metro registered its highest-ever single-day ridership on August 8, 2025, with 81,87,674 passenger journeys recorded across all lines. The record surge was linked to the Raksha Bandhan festival rush, when travel demand spiked across the city. Following the fare revision, the minimum Delhi Metro fare is now INR 11, while the maximum has been set at INR 64. DMRC last revised its fares in 2017 based on the recommendations of the fourth Fare Fixation Committee (FFC). This means it is the first fare revision for Delhi Metro in eight years.
