Sony launches GTA 6 themed DualSense controllers, pre‑orders start Sep 10

Sony announced the release of two limited‑edition DualSense wireless controllers that draw directly from the aesthetic of Rockstar Games’ upcoming title, Grand Theft Auto VI. The devices, presented during Sony’s recent State of Play showcase, are intended to give fans a tangible way to celebrate the game’s launch, which is scheduled for 19 November on the PlayStation 5 platform.

Design, pricing and standard features

Both controllers adopt a monochrome colour scheme that reflects the fictional Vice City environment central to GTA VI’s storyline. The White Limited Edition is described as echoing daytime in Vice City, while the Black Limited Edition is meant to capture the city’s neon‑lit nightlife. Each unit incorporates a shimmer coating and colour‑changing effects meant to evoke the region’s sunsets and illuminated streets. Design details include palm‑tree motifs and the Grand Theft Auto VI logo moulded into the grips, as well as a touchpad marked with the Roman numeral “VI” highlighted in pink and finished in an iridescent blue that references the Miami‑style setting.

Pricing for both editions is set at $84.99, which converts to roughly ₹7,100 in India, €84.99 in Europe and £74.99 in the United Kingdom. The standard DualSense functionality is retained, meaning haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and dynamic resistance will operate as they do on the regular controller. Sony indicated that these features will respond to in‑game actions in Grand Theft Auto VI, providing tactile cues that align with the game’s on‑screen events.

Pre‑order windows and distribution channels

Pre‑orders for the limited‑edition controllers begin on 10 September at 10 a.m. local time in a group of European markets that includes the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. In the United States, the pre‑order window opens at 7 a.m. Pacific Time (10 a.m. Eastern Time) on the same day, while Indian customers can place orders at 7:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time.

The White Limited Edition will be sold through Sony’s PlayStation Direct platform as well as selected retail outlets, though Sony emphasized that supply will be limited. The Black Limited Edition will be available exclusively via PlayStation Direct in some regions and through a narrower set of retail partners in others. For U.S. customers who order through PlayStation Direct, Sony promised free delivery on the launch day of the product.

Both editions are slated to become available on 19 November, the same day Grand Theft Auto VI launches on the PlayStation 5. The game follows the characters Jason and Lucia as they navigate the fictional state of Leonida, a setting that reintroduces the iconic Vice City locale.

By aligning the controller release with the game’s launch, Sony aims to create a coordinated marketing push that leverages the visual identity of GTA VI while offering PlayStation owners a collector’s item that retains full functionality. The limited‑edition status, combined with the specific design cues tied to Vice City’s daylight and nightlife, positions the controllers as both a functional accessory and a piece of memorabilia for fans of the franchise.

Overall, the announcement underscores Sony’s strategy of deepening ecosystem integration between hardware and high‑profile software releases. By providing a themed controller that does not sacrifice any of the DualSense’s core capabilities, the company hopes to enhance the immersive experience of GTA VI while driving additional hardware sales during the critical holiday shopping period.
