In a spine-chilling news received on Saturday, July 19 in the morning hours, a student of Greater Noida based Sharda <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/07\/15\/20-year-old-odisha-woman-sets-herself-on-fire-why-did-she-take-this-extreme-step\/\">University<\/a> was found dead after committing suicide, as per an ANI report. Greater Noida ADCP Sudhir Kumar said that the student&#8217;s body was found in the hostel on Friday. Two staff members have been arrested in connection with the case.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old BDS <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/04\/28\/level-up-your-learning-top-ai-tools-for-college-students-in-2025\/\">college student<\/a> was found dead within the university campus under the jurisdiction of Knowledge Park Police Station. Police recovered a handwritten suicide note in which the student held her teachers responsible for her death.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Two staff members from the management of the university have been arrested on the basis of the complaint lodged by the family members of the student<\/em>,&#8221; Additional <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/05\/20\/pakistans-spy-game-exposed-indian-police-arrests-suspects\/\">DCP,<\/a> Greater Noida, Sudhir Kumar had said, as per the PTI update.<\/p>\n<p>The additional DCP further stated that Kumar after the incident, students were agitated over Sharda University&#8217;s administration, which was expected given the sensitivity with the matter in concern. They were appalled to a large degree and were later pacified, and the situation was brought under control. Further action is being undertaken, as of now.<\/p>\n<p>The woman&#8217;s body has been sent for a post-mortem, he added. The university has not issued any official statement in connection with the case yet. The details of the young student have been kept anonymous for obvious reasons, but the exact cause and reason behind this extreme step remains unknown yet. Though, a letter has been recovered believed to have been penned down by the deceased, which states of her facing extreme form of harassment, abuse and humiliation and forcing her to take her own life.<\/p>\n<p>The case has drawn parallels with the recent suicide of a student in <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/07\/15\/20-year-old-odisha-woman-sets-herself-on-fire-why-did-she-take-this-extreme-step\/\">Odisha\u2019s Balasore, who had succumbed to burn injuries after self-immolating<\/a> over alleged inaction against a professor she had accused of sexual and psychological abuse. In that case, delayed disciplinary action had become a focal point of national outrage. The end result had a similar outcome, with young girls ending their lives due to helplessness and lack of ample support.<\/p>\n<p>Rights groups and education reform advocates have called both deaths a wake-up call for universities and regulatory bodies to adopt robust mental health safeguards and student protection mechanisms. While the university has not yet issued a public statement, senior police officials said they are reviewing faculty records and hostel CCTV footage.
