The wage hikes will be effective from September 1, as per an official email sent to employees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>We are pleased to announce a compensation revision for all eligible associates in grades up to C3A and equivalent, covering 80% of our workforce. This will be effective 1st September 2025<\/em>,&#8221; says the email, as confirmed by the PTI.<\/p>\n<p>The extent of wage hikes could not be ascertained, though this definitely comes as a respite for the junior level employees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>We can confirm that we will be issuing wage hikes to around 80% of our employees effective 1st September 2025<\/em>.&#8221; The move to reward and retain talent comes at a time when TCS has decided to lay off close to 12,000 employees as part of what its broader strategy to become a &#8220;<em>future-ready organisation<\/em>&#8220;. This strategic move entails focus on investments in technology, <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/04\/29\/free-vs-paid-ai-tools-whats-your-pick\/\">AI<\/a> deployment, market expansion, and workforce realignment, according to the company.<\/p>\n<p>The late Ratan Tata owned Tata Consultancy had to face scrutiny and brickbats as soon as the news of mass layoff was made public, in its endeavour to develop new-tech areas, enter unknown markets, deploy <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/07\/28\/ai-responsible-for-tcs-job-cuts-ceo-issues-clarification\/\">Artificial Intelligence<\/a> at scale for clients, create next-gen infrastructure, and realign their workforce model.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Towards this, a number of reskilling and redeployment initiatives have been underway. As part of this journey, they will be releasing associates from the organisation whose deployment may not be feasible. This will impact about 2% of our global workforce, primarily in the middle and the senior grades, over the course of the year<\/em>,&#8221; TCS had stated in its previous official statement.<\/p>\n<p>The layoffs at <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/07\/28\/ai-responsible-for-tcs-job-cuts-ceo-issues-clarification\/\">TCS<\/a> have, in fact, ignited larger conversations on whether or not the IT industry itself may be headed for a major reset, amid turbulence from global macro uncertainties, impact of U.S.&#8217; crushing tariffs on overall outsourcing sentiments, and the AI-led disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>As it is, India&#8217;s top IT services companies (TCS, Infosys and HCL Tech) have delivered rather muted single-digit revenue growth in Q1 FY26, capping off a somewhat-sobering June quarter, amidst the economic instability and geopolitical tensions that have weighed on global technology-services\u2019 demand and delayed client decision-making.<\/p>\n<p>This dual-track approach\u2014hiking pays for junior employees while trimming senior staff\u2014highlights the shifting priorities within India\u2019s IT sector, which is grappling with global economic headwinds, U.S. trade policy pressures, and accelerating <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/04\/29\/free-vs-paid-ai-tools-whats-your-pick\/\">AI disruptions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"font-size: 0px; height: 0px; line-height: 0px; margin: 0; padding: 0; clear: both;\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The wage hikes come at a time when TCS is set to lay off about 12,000 employees this year.
