The DMRC has announced a hike in fares for Metro services in the national capital after eight long years, making travelling on the city\u2019s transport lifeline more expensive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The passenger fares of the Delhi Metro services have been revised with effect from today, that is, 25th August 2025 (Monday) onwards. The increase is minimal, ranging from\u00a0\u20b9\u00a01 to\u00a0\u20b9\u00a04 only depending on the distance of travel (up to\u00a0\u20b95 for the Airport Express Line)<\/em>,\u201d DMRC shared via a post on their official X account.<\/p>\n<p>The fare hike comes just weeks after the Delhi Metro registered its highest-ever single-day ridership on August 8, 2025, with 81,87,674 passenger journeys recorded across all lines. The record surge was linked to the Raksha Bandhan festival rush, when travel demand spiked across the city.\u00a0Following the fare revision, the minimum Delhi Metro fare is now\u00a0INR 11, while the maximum has been set at\u00a0INR 64.\u00a0DMRC\u00a0last revised its fares in 2017 based on the recommendations of the fourth Fare Fixation Committee (FFC). While the old fares were\u00a0INR 10 and\u00a0INR 20, they will now be\u00a0INR 11 and\u00a0INR 21.<\/li>\n<li>The fare for distances between 5 and 12 kilometres has been increased to\u00a0INR 32 from\u00a0INR 30. Travelling up to 21 kilometres will cost commuters\u00a0INR 43, an increase of\u00a0INR 3 from the existing\u00a0INR 40.<\/li>\n<li>For distances greater than 21 kilometres, the fare hike stands at\u00a0INR 4. While the commuters travelling less than 32 kilometres will have to pay\u00a0INR 54, anything above that will cost\u00a0INR 64.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Despite the fare hike, commuters using smart cards will continue to receive a 10 per cent discount on every journey, along with an additional 10 per cent discount during off-peak hours (before 8 AM, between 12 PM and 5 PM, and after 9 PM).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With over six million daily riders on average, the Delhi Metro remains the backbone of urban mobility in the National Capital Region (NCR).
