The impact of the collision was so powerful that one of the passenger coaches climbed onto a wagon of the goods train, crushing the compartment and trapping passengers inside.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1515\">Rescue teams, including personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), rushed to the site to pull survivors and recover bodies from the mangled wreckage. Officials said two to three passengers were still feared trapped as of late evening.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1517\" data-end=\"1557\"><strong data-start=\"1521\" data-end=\"1557\">Casualties and Rescue Operations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1896\">The<em> death toll in the Bilaspur train accident has risen to 11<\/em>, and several injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital and the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilaspur. Many of the injured are in critical condition, and authorities have warned that the toll may rise further.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1898\" data-end=\"2227\">The loco pilot, identified as Vidya Sagar, unfortunately lost his life in the collision, while assistant loco pilot Rashmi Raj \u2014 one of the few female train drivers in the region \u2014 had sustained serious injuries. The guard of the goods train managed to jump out of the brake van moments before impact, escaping with minor injuries.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2229\" data-end=\"2289\"><strong data-start=\"2233\" data-end=\"2289\">Possible Cause: Signal Overshoot Under Investigation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2688\">Preliminary reports suggest that the MEMU train overshot a red signal before colliding with the goods train. A senior railway official stated that the passenger train was travelling at a speed of 60\u201370 kms per hour when it hit the stationary rake. \u201cIt is being investigated why the driver failed to stop even though the red signal was visible and the goods train was ahead,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2690\" data-end=\"2837\">A detailed inquiry by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has been ordered to determine the exact cause and identify accountability.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2839\" data-end=\"2878\"><strong data-start=\"2843\" data-end=\"2878\">Ex-Gratia and Official Response<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2880\" data-end=\"3065\">The Indian Railways has announced INR 10 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased, INR 5 lakh for the seriously injured, and INR 1 lakh for those with minor injuries.\u00a0Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed deep grief over the tragedy, calling it \u201c<em>extremely painful and distressing<\/em>.\u201d <strong><em>The state government has also declared in INR 5 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased and \u20b950,000 for those injured<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2880\" data-end=\"3065\">Rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing, and all necessary medical aid is being provided as confirmed to the media by the CM of Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"3452\" data-end=\"3497\"><strong data-start=\"3456\" data-end=\"3497\">Survivors Recall the Moment of Impact<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3499\" data-end=\"3807\">Sanjeev Vishwakarma (35), one of the survivors, recounted the harrowing moments before and after the collision. \u201c<em>I was scrolling through my phone when suddenly there was a massive jolt. People screamed as the coach shook violently.
