The decision comes after these organisations withdrew confirmed job offers made to students last academic year, in several cases just days before their scheduled joining dates in June and July 2025, according to reports.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"719\" data-end=\"750\"><strong data-start=\"723\" data-end=\"750\">Why The Ban Was Imposed<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"752\" data-end=\"1078\">At IITs, students who accept an offer are generally restricted from sitting for additional interviews. This arrangement ensures fairness and prevents multiple offer hoarding. However, this system also means that when a company cancels an offer at the last moment, <strong data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1077\">the affected student is left with no backup option at all<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1396\">The sudden revocation of job offers not only <strong data-start=\"1125\" data-end=\"1161\">disrupted students\u2019 career plans<\/strong> but also took a serious toll on their <strong data-start=\"1200\" data-end=\"1217\">mental health<\/strong>, placement officials said. A number of the blacklisted firms also had a <strong data-start=\"1668\" data-end=\"1720\">history of similar withdrawals in previous years<\/strong>, making the decision to bar them this year even more critical.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1785\" data-end=\"2117\">Most of the banned organisations belong to the <strong data-start=\"1832\" data-end=\"1883\">software development and data analytics sectors<\/strong>, industries that have seen volatile hiring cycles amid an uncertain global economic environment. Some companies not only withdrew offers but also attempted to <strong data-start=\"2043\" data-end=\"2098\">slash the originally promised compensation packages<\/strong>, the review noted.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2119\" data-end=\"2370\">While these firms will not be allowed to recruit through the <strong data-start=\"2180\" data-end=\"2214\">official IIT placement process<\/strong> this year, they may still reach out to students through off campus<strong data-start=\"2271\" data-end=\"2301\">\u00a0hiring channels<\/strong>, though such routes typically offer less transparency and oversight.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2372\" data-end=\"2428\"><strong data-start=\"2376\" data-end=\"2428\">Coordination Among 15 IITs to Safeguard Students<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2430\" data-end=\"2728\">According to a professor involved in the placement process, the names of the barred companies were thoroughly cross verified by coordinators <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/12\/01\/winter-session-of-parliament-2025-key-bills-and-reforms-listed\/\">representing nearly 15 IITs.<\/a> The collective approach was designed to prevent repeat instances and ensure students receive fair treatment from recruiters.\u00a0In some cases, the cancellations came from firms where <strong data-start=\"2785\" data-end=\"2824\">IIT alumni themselves were employed<\/strong>, prompting placement cells to contact senior leaders and highlight the adverse impact on students.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2966\" data-end=\"3302\">Fortunately, with the support of the <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/12\/01\/winter-session-of-parliament-2025-key-bills-and-reforms-listed\/\">IIT alumni network,<\/a> he later secured an even better opportunity\u2014a rare outcome compared with most affected candidates.\u00a0Despite concerns about a sluggish job market, early indicators from the first day of placements appear encouraging.
