LaLiga president Javier Tebas publicly criticised the club’s players for the way they displayed a Ceuta‑support shirt, Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior answered a chant from the Martínez Valero crowd, and the Spanish giants are reportedly working on a transfer for Manchester United academy prodigy JJ Gabriel.

Tebas denounces the shirt display as an institutional breach

During Real Madrid’s 3–2 victory over Elche, several players from both sides entered the pitch wearing white shirts that read “Todos somos caballas”, a slogan supporting Ceuta. Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior and Ibrahima Konaté rolled up the shirts, partially obscuring the message, and Mbappé and Vinícius removed the shirts before the pre‑match greetings concluded.

Speaking at an event organised by the Association of Managers and Executives of Aragon in Huesca, Tebas called the act “very wrong”. He argued that the decision to wear the shirt should be viewed as an institutional act of the club rather than an individual expression by players. “Real Madrid is a Spanish entity,” he said, describing the initiative as “an institutional act, a club act” rather than a personal opinion.

Tebas added that initiatives authorised by LaLiga should not hinge on individual players’ views when they do not concern ideological matters. He stressed that the entire squad appearing in the shirt is a club tradition, noting that “coming out with the shirt folded is like coming out without it”. He also referenced Real Betis winger Ez Abde, who faced threats after wearing the same shirt in a separate match, calling the backlash “collateral damage”.

Vinícius Junior confronts Elche supporters and addresses scoring slump

In the same match, Vinícius Júnior was caught on Movistar Plus cameras responding to a section of the Elche crowd that chanted “Vinícius beach ball”, a reference to his 2024 Ballon d’Or win. The Brazilian raised his voice, saying “More, more, more… Watch out…”, while gesturing toward the fans.

After the game, Vinícius used his Instagram account to comment on his current goal drought. He wrote, “The goals will come back… I can’t miss so many. There’s more on Sunday. Hala Madrid!” The post underscored his determination to end the dry spell.

Elche coach Martín Anselmi, while acknowledging the defeat, said he felt pride rather than anger. He noted that his side had rallied from a 2–0 deficit, with goals from Abiel Osorio and Fer Niño leveling the score before Carlos Espí’s stoppage‑time winner secured the win for Madrid. “I feel proud because we were present in the game against a very strong opponent,” Anselmi said, adding that his team’s next developmental stage is learning to manage such comebacks. He highlighted the lack of cohesion after the 2–2 draw and stressed the need for maturity moving forward.

Young Madrid players make their mark and the club eyes a teenage prodigy

Yan Diomande continued his promising start at Real Madrid with a strong performance against Elche. The 19‑year‑old made his second consecutive start, providing the assist for Mbappé’s first‑half goal after beating his defender on the right flank. Diomande recorded seven dribbles and created three chances, and after being substituted he made a small gesture toward the Real Madrid badge, signalling his enthusiasm for the club.

Manager José Mourinho previously explained that Diomande’s limited minutes were a product of the squad’s depth, not a lack of ability. “He’s not missing anything,” Mourinho said before the Elche match, adding that at a club with fewer high‑potential players Diomande would likely be a regular starter.

In a separate story, former Real Madrid academy midfielder César Palacios impressed while playing for Fulham in a Carabao Cup match against West Ham. He scored and assisted in Fulham’s 3–2 win, prompting manager Álvaro Arbeloa to praise his performance and stress the need for patience with the club’s younger talents.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois used his appearance at the tenth edition of the World Football Summit in Madrid to discuss life after football and to promote NXTPLAY Capital, an investment platform he co‑founded with Gonzalo Vila. Courtois highlighted the importance of preparing for a post‑playing career while maintaining a competitive mindset. He stressed that an athlete’s name can open doors in business, but genuine audience engagement and active follower metrics are crucial for sustainable success.

Perhaps the most intriguing development concerns Real Madrid’s transfer ambitions. Reports indicate that the Spanish club is actively negotiating for Manchester United academy forward JJ Gabriel, a 15‑year‑old considered one of England’s most highly rated prospects. Gabriel, whose full name is Joseph Junior Andreou O’Cearuill, has previously been part of the youth systems at Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham and Queens Park Rangers before joining United.

According to ESPN, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring Gabriel’s situation after he reportedly asked to leave Manchester United amid uncertainty about his future. The Athletic added that Madrid are working on a potential deal and are optimistic about securing the teenager. Other clubs linked with the player include Paris Saint‑Germain, Bayern Munich and several Premier League sides.

Gabriel’s statistical output has attracted attention: he has recorded 28 goals and six assists in 35 appearances, according to the reports. His versatility as a left winger or attacking midfielder, combined with his prolific numbers, explains the breadth of interest from top European clubs.

Collectively, the events of September 16 illustrate Real Madrid’s multifaceted narrative: on‑field drama, off‑field controversies, emerging talent, and strategic transfer pursuits. While the club celebrates a narrow win over Elche, it also faces scrutiny from LaLiga officials and navigates the complex market for a teenage wonderkid.

LaLiga chief Javier Tebas denounced a shirt controversy, Vinicius Junior replied to Elche chants, and Real Madrid are reported to be negotiating for Manchester United youngster JJ Gabriel.

[299
2135,2137,2134,2133,2136
post-2030","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-javier-tebas","tag-jj-gabriel","tag-laliga","tag-real-madrid","tag-vinicius-junior","entry
["GET
