The broader Sensex also rose, adding 879.09 points for a 1.23 percent increase to finish at 72,472.33. The uptick ended an eight‑week stretch of losses for the Nifty, yet the recovery arrived against a backdrop of several headwinds that could test its durability.

Macro backdrop and oil price concerns

Crude oil prices remain a central worry for Indian equities. Brent crude has been trading above the $100‑a‑barrel threshold, fluctuating in a range roughly between $102.50 and $105, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) stays above $90. Analyst Hariselvan Radhakrishnan, chief executive of HST Wealth, highlighted that a sustained break below $100 would be needed to ease inflationary pressure, reduce the import bill and support the rupee.

Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, particularly around Iran and the Strait of Hormuz, add an extra layer of uncertainty. Any disruption to regional energy infrastructure could push oil prices higher, feeding through to consumer prices and corporate costs.

Investor flows, monetary policy and currency dynamics

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have continued to sell, recording net outflows of about Rs 39,779 crore in October to date. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) have largely offset this pressure, buying roughly Rs 40,355 crore over the same period. Hariselvan noted that domestic institutions absorbed nearly the entire weekly Rs 30,000‑crore outflow from overseas investors, providing a crucial counterbalance.

U.S. macro data will also shape market sentiment. Strong U.S. inflation or retail‑sales figures could keep Treasury yields elevated, while softer readings might allow yields to retreat. The U.S. 10‑year Treasury yield has slipped from a recent peak near 5.36 % to about 5.24 %, offering some relief to emerging‑market assets but still remaining high.

Analyst Ponmudi warned that any renewed rise in U.S. yields could strengthen the dollar, pressurise the rupee and dampen risk appetite, especially in rate‑sensitive and high‑valuation stocks. The rupee is currently hovering near the Rs 97‑per‑dollar mark, vulnerable to the combined impact of high oil prices, elevated U.S. yields and ongoing foreign outflows.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently raised the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50 % on October 7, shifting its stance from neutral to “calibrated tightening.” This was the first increase in almost four years, reflecting heightened concerns over inflation driven by energy and commodity costs. Market participants will watch upcoming domestic CPI and WPI releases for clues on whether further tightening is likely.

Earnings, sectoral momentum and technical outlook

Information‑technology stocks sparked the Friday rally after Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) posted its September‑quarter results. Attention now turns to upcoming earnings from HCL Technologies, Wipro and Tech Mahindra, whose performance and management commentary could determine whether the sector’s bounce sustains.

Both analysts stressed that strong earnings and positive outlooks could encourage selective buying, while weak results might expose the market to renewed selling pressure. Hariselvan also flagged the impact of the PERM suspension on Indian IT firms, noting that a prolonged freeze could raise localisation and employee‑retention costs.

From a technical perspective, the Nifty’s sharp rebound broke an eight‑week losing streak but the index remains below its key moving averages, suggesting that the rally may not yet constitute a confirmed trend reversal. Ponmudi identified the 22,600‑22,800 range as the immediate resistance zone, with a sustained move above 22,800 potentially opening the path toward the 23,000 level. On the downside, support is seen at 22,400, then 22,200, and the psychological 22,000 mark. A break below 22,200 could reignite selling pressure.

Momentum indicators have improved from oversold conditions after Friday’s bounce, yet the broader trend remains cautious. The next week’s direction will likely hinge on a combination of oil price movements, U.S. inflation and yield data, domestic price releases, foreign investor behavior and the outcomes of the September‑quarter earnings season.

In summary, while the Nifty’s 1.3 % gain offers a welcome lift, analysts underscore that elevated crude prices, persistent foreign outflows and macro‑economic uncertainties continue to loom. Investors will be watching closely for any shift in these variables before committing to a longer‑term bullish stance.

The Nifty 50 rose 1.3% to 22,520.45 on Friday, but analysts warn that high crude prices, continued foreign outflows and upcoming data could curb the rally.

[299
1846,2033,2847,1687,1844
post-2590","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-foreign-investors","tag-indian-equities","tag-it-earnings","tag-nifty","tag-oil-prices","entry
["GET
