The preview, identified as Snapshot 6, delivers a pair of new building materials – Snow Bricks and a Cold Sulfur Cube variant – alongside a handful of balance and performance refinements aimed at polishing the next major release.

Snow Bricks expand decorative options

The most visible addition in this snapshot is the Snow Brick block. Builders can craft the brick by arranging four Snow Blocks in a 2 × 2 grid inside the standard crafting table interface. The resulting item occupies a single output slot and can be placed as a full‑size block.

Unlike many other brick‑type materials, Snow Bricks do not require a stonecutter for shaping. To obtain the slab, stair and wall forms, players must repeat the crafting process using the same table layout, selecting the appropriate recipe for each variant. The block also follows a unique harvesting rule: a shovel is required to break Snow Bricks and retrieve them for relocation, differentiating it from stone‑based bricks that typically need a pickaxe.

Beyond its aesthetic role, Snow Bricks interact with the Sulfur Cube family. Supplying a Snow Brick to a Sulfur Cube will transform the mob into the “Fast Sliding” hockey‑puck type, according to the snapshot notes.

Cold Sulfur Cube creates frosted ice

The second headline feature is a new Cold Sulfur Cube archetype. To produce this variant, a standard Sulfur Cube must absorb a Blue Ice Block, an action that can also be performed by feeding the cube the block directly.

Functionally, the Cold Sulfur Cube mirrors the existing Fast Sliding version but adds a water‑based effect. When the cube moves across water, it leaves a temporary disk of Frosted Ice in its wake, provided two conditions are met: the cube must begin its motion from a solid ground surface, and there must be air blocks above the water column. This behavior resembles the Frost Walker enchantment, yet it is limited to the cube’s movement and does not apply to players.

The frosted ice generated by the cube only appears under the specified circumstances; if the cube starts moving while already in water, the effect does not trigger. Likewise, the presence of overhead air is essential for the ice to form, ensuring the mechanic does not activate in enclosed underwater spaces.

Minor gameplay tweaks and technical updates

Snapshot 6 also includes several smaller adjustments. Packed Ice Brick variants, which previously dropped themselves when mined with any tool, now require a pickaxe for collection. Brittle Ice blocks have been altered so that they no longer break when a Stray entity stands on them, reducing unintended terrain damage.

Ambient sound behavior has been tweaked: Ice Crystals will occasionally emit sounds when a Packed Ice block sits directly beneath them, adding subtle auditory detail to icy biomes.

On the performance side, the default Java Virtual Machine (JVM) launch options have been revised. The game will now automatically allocate up to 25 % of the system’s available RAM for the Java heap, with a hard ceiling of 4 GB. This dynamic allocation aims to improve stability on a broader range of hardware configurations.

Collectively, these changes set the stage for the full 26.4 winter update, which promises expanded building possibilities, new mob interactions, and smoother technical performance. Players are encouraged to test the new Snow Brick constructions and experiment with the Cold Sulfur Cube’s frosted‑ice trail as the snapshot circulates.

Snapshot 6 of Minecraft 26.4 introduces Snow Bricks, a new Cold Sulfur Cube archetype that creates frosted ice, plus a range of minor gameplay and technical tweaks.

[299
2082,1994,3361,3362,3363
post-3001","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-game-update","tag-minecraft","tag-snapshot-6","tag-snow-bricks","tag-sulfur-cube","entry
["GET
