But this time, the expected downpour is anticipated to be higher than usual. States such as Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Telangana should exercise caution, as per the advice received from Meteorological department. These states have catchment areas of rivers such as the Krishna, Godavari, Mahanadi \u2013 which could receive heavy rain in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>Monsoon rainfall in July, the primary and most important month for agricultural operations, will be \u2018<strong><em>above normal<\/em><\/strong>\u2019, or nearly 6% more than the 28 cm it usually receives as an average. However, several States across the coastline and peninsular region ought to be watchful, as the heavy rains could lead to the catchment areas from several river basins receiving surplus rains.<\/p>\n<p>July normally records 28 cm of the total LPA (Long Period Average) of 87 cm for the four monsoon months &#8211; June, July, August and September. This figure is undoubtedly expected to be crossed, as per the latest IMD predictions. IMD, Indian Meteorological Department is the principal national agency for meteorological observations, weather forecasting, and related services in <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/06\/21\/international-yoga-day-pm-modi-terms-yoga-as-pause-button-for-humanity\/\">India<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rainfall across the country is likely to be above normal, exceeding 106% of the long period average in July. This forecast may bring about the desired cheer for farmers, likely boost the rural economy, and keep inflation at controlled levels. However, with heavy rainfall anticipation, orange alert has been issued by the Met department in some states, including the capital Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>With June rains exceeding normal by almost 9%, the July forecast means this year\u2019s rainfall from the Southwest Monsoon could meet the weather office\u2019s April estimate of being above normal. Many parts of the country are likely to experience normal to above normal rainfall. However, most parts of northeast India and many parts of east India, extreme south peninsular India and some areas of northwest India are likely to receive below normal rainfall, as per the directive released by the IMD officials on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>IMD has additionally also issued a precautionary warned of flooding in Uttarakhand, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, the central-eastern belt of Odisha, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and parts of <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/06\/19\/cyber-fraud-takes-a-new-form-mumbai-woman-loses-22-lakhs\/\">Maharashtra<\/a>.
