Wing from Alphabet Has Launched the First Commercial Drone Delivery Flight

Wing, the drone delivery development unit from Alphabet Inc, has become the first company to launch one commercial drone delivery flight. This flight will be used for delivering goods like packages and food items via the air. The technology has been designed in such a way that a number of products can be carried from a potential store to the destination home in just a few minutes. What Wing has done here is creating one of such drones with carriage and speed capabilities. Wing was also one of the first companies to receive a full approval from the FAA.

The milestone delivery from Wing was done on last Friday and it happened in Christiansburg, Virginia. News publications have received sources that the company is planning to expand its service area in the upcoming weeks, thus being able to enhance the growth of delivery drones themselves. Wing has clearly stated that its new flight is capable of almost everything drone delivery has been about but added that the company is working on a software platform that allows third-party agencies to use the service for their own needs. Wing is building the service-product combo for both business and personal needs.

As the first step of air delivery popularization, Wing has come to an agreement with companies like FedEx, Walgreens and Sugar Magnolia, a Virginia-based retailer. All these companies would be using the service of Wing to deliver their products to customers in nearby cities and other regions. Compared to the traditional delivery methods, the process would be several times better. It should be noted that Wing or Alphabet isn’t the only player in the market. There are potential competitors like Amazon Prime delivery and other projects from UPS and Uber — most of who have either secured or in the process of securing an FAA approval.
