Donald Throws a Trump Card against PM Modi – Finds a New Friend in Pakistan?

US President Donald Trump has picked a new apparent best friend, says ‘I love Pakistan’ in his official press meet.

Looks like the recently concluded G7 Summit held in Canada on June 16-17 has created some new dynamics and equation, with US President going on record officially and stating that it was his intervention which led to the supposed ceasefire between India and Pakistan as part of Operation Sindoor. First the Saudis, now Pakistan’s generals—who is Trump really working for? This has become a mystery question, with US President Trump inviting Pak Army Chief Asim Munir to White House and hosting him for a lunch meeting. He also praised Munir’s role in preventing escalation of the conflict between India and Pakistan and expressed his appreciation for taking a rather smart decision of ending the war.

The lunch meeting was the first time a US President had hosted the powerful head of Pakistan’s Army at the White House unaccompanied by senior Pakistan civilian officials. It also came amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, with Trump exploring Washington’s involvement. The US President also praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who he spoke to over a long 30-minute telephonic conversation. PM Modi post his telecon made his stance absolutely clear that the ceasefire following the May 7-10 military standoff was achieved through direct communication between the Indian militaries – not through any external mediation.

Donald Trump, Narendra Modi, Asim Munir

Donald Trump inviting Asim Munir over, heaping excess praise on Pakistan and taking credit for his involvement in India-Pakistan terror strikes showcase him in a new light, of possibly indirectly snubbing PM Modi and the Indian diaspora. The internet seemed to think Bollywood masala was the best way to interpret the significant meeting between US President Donald Trump and Pakistani Field Marshall Asim Munir.

President Trump hosting Field Marshal Munir after he called for the President to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for preventing a nuclear war between India and Pakistan is a real shock, showcasing how conveniently Trump has switched sides. Shortly thereafter, Donald Trump said that he “loves Pakistan“, but was quick to balance it by saying he also thought “Modi is fantastic” too.

Wednesday’s meeting between Donald Trump and Asim Munir was a closed-door discussion, and so far no official statement from both parties on this luncheon has been released yet.
