With continual advancements being planned, ChatGPT, <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/03\/us-fda-launches-ai-tool-elsa-aims-to-enhance-agencys-efficiency\/\">one of the first AI tools<\/a> to be presented to the global audience was launched by OpenAI, owned by tech wizard Sam Altman.<\/p>\n<p>In the advent to bring out more features and ease the operational challenges, OpenAI on Thursday announced a new feature for ChatGPT that allows the popular chatbot to <strong><em>execute actions on a user\u2019s behalf<\/em><\/strong>. It\u2019s part of an industry-wide push to change the way people get things done on the Internet: Tech giants hope that instead of bouncing between multiple applications and manually searching the web browser, users might be able to one day rely on tech-enabled agents to do it all.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ChatGPT\u2019s new agent mode, which begins rolling out immediately, is indicative that tech giants are doubling down on digital helpers that demonstrate significantly advanced capabilities.<\/li>\n<li>It also increases the race between <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/04\/29\/free-vs-paid-ai-tools-whats-your-pick\/\">OpenAI<\/a> and Google, which is pursuing similar ambitions with its <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/03\/us-fda-launches-ai-tool-elsa-aims-to-enhance-agencys-efficiency\/\">AI tool<\/a> &#8211; Gemini too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OpenAI&#8217;s product ChatGPT\u2019s will have a new agent mode &#8211; which will &#8216;<em><strong>think<\/strong><\/em>&#8216; and &#8216;<em><strong>act<\/strong><\/em>&#8216; using its own virtual computer, enabling it to handle complex action-oriented requests. For example, users will be able to issue command such as \u201c<em>look at my calendar and brief me on upcoming client meetings based on recent news<\/em>\u201d or \u201c<em>plan and buy ingredients to make Japanese breakfast for four<\/em>,\u201d the company said in an official blog post released by them on July 17.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1119 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DECK-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"OpenAI, Sam Altman, ChatGPT, Google, Gemini, Apple, Siri\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DECK-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/newsraise.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DECK-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/newsraise.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DECK-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/newsraise.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/DECK.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This new feature will definitely add more curiosity amongst the existing ChatGPT fans, as they will hope to rely on the chatbot for their thinking and acting on it work &#8211; allowing them to focus on other subjects of greater importance.\u00a0The new feature is available for those who subscribe to a <strong><em>Pro, Plus or Team plan<\/em><\/strong>. It builds on and combines capabilities from the ChatGPT Operator and Deep Research tools OpenAI already offers &#8211; the Operator browses the web, while Deep Research analyses online resources to do things like compile reports.<\/p>\n<p>The update is a step closer in OpenAI\u2019s efforts to turn <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/04\/28\/level-up-your-learning-top-ai-tools-for-college-students-in-2025\/\">ChatGPT<\/a> in a more comprehensive universal assistant. At the same time, the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>broader AI industry is also grappling with how to address important shortcomings and privacy concerns around<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>the technology. AI models are still prone to inaccuracy and bias and can act in unpredictable ways, which has also become a cause of concern as the reliance on its use increases.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the official blog post, OpenAI&#8217;s team acknowledged that ChatGPT\u2019s new functionality presents new risks with the update. <span style=\"font-size: 1em\">The feature&#8217;s operation has been limited in terms of the data the chatbot has access to, and certain tasks \u2013 like sending an email or responding to a query \u2013 will require the user\u2019s oversight. The model is also trained to refuse<\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1em\">\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1em\">\u201ch<\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1em\"><em>igh-risk tasks<\/em><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1em\">\u201d like bank transfers, payments and more.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Though the new feature update by Sam and his experts to advance ChatGPT&#8217;s scalability has become cutting edge and experimental; but it&#8217;s not something that has been recommended by the owner himself, for high stakes work or with a lot of personal information until there is a genuine opportunity to improve and streamline the task being carried out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He advised users to be cautious when giving <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/04\/29\/free-vs-paid-ai-tools-whats-your-pick\/\">ChatGPT<\/a> access to personal information. For\u00a0example, granting access to a calendar to coordinate a group dinner might<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>make sense, but the agent wouldn\u2019t need calendar access to shop for clothes on a user\u2019s behalf.\u00a0This cautionary announcement comes as tech giants are increasingly pushing to develop <a href=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/in\/2025\/04\/29\/free-vs-paid-ai-tools-whats-your-pick\/\">AI agents<\/a> as they seek to win the AI race &#8211; win Google eyeing for advancements to its chatbot
