It was reported recently that the United States is currently witnessing one of the highest points of STD rates in the country. Although the CDC hadn\u2019t pointed out a specific reason for that, Hawaii health officials seem to have found something out. According to the latest reports, Hawaii health officials believe that the increase in the number of STDs in the region is due to the popularity of online dating. Aloha State has said that the health sector has seen that diseases like chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis have been reported at rates never seen before in 30 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs people rely on digital means of making connections, it can lead to circumstances where they might be more exposed to infection without them knowing it. More partners, more chances to get infections,\u201d Gerald Hasty, a part of the Department of Health Harm Reduction Services Branch, was quoted saying by Fox News. He added that the chance of easy connections has actually increased the risk in which users end up. He added that the diseases are not unexpected, although much-hated once contracted. He also said that people who have been infected don\u2019t even understand the primary symptoms.<\/p>\n
Of course, this claim does not have statistical data for support. For instance, it cannot be proven that people who have been infected with these diseases were indeed using online dating platforms. That said, it is not possible either to completely ignore how the opportunity of easier connections could be leading to prospects of unprotected sex. It should be made clear, however, that the health department is blaming not just online dating, but also the lack of proper screening options. Most patients go to extreme cases because they aren\u2019t able to diagnose what they have.<\/p>\n
