Galaxy S10 is out for sale for more than six months and are remarkably good for some of its features. But lately reports claim that the phone can be unlocked by anyone\u2019s fingerprint. This happens, as reports say when the user installs a third-party screen protector in the phone.<\/p>\n
According to the report of The Sun, a British woman said that her husband could unlock her phone albeit his fingerprint was not registered. The report says that the phone was unlocked when they used a third-party screen protector over the fingerprint sensor.<\/p>\n
The issue has been detected in both Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy Note 10. The online bank in South Korea, Kakao Bank, advised its customers not to use the fingerprint during bank services until the issue is fixed.<\/p>\n
Galaxy S10 was announced back in February and was launched in the following month. The fingerprint authentication system, what the company called \u2018revolutionary\u2019 during its release, uses ultrasound to detect the fingerprints from below the phone\u2019s display. It allows the users to open their phones as well as make payments and applications on the phone simply by scanning their finger embedded in the screen.<\/p>\n
Upon receiving many similar allegations, the South Korean giant acknowledged the security flaw and promised that they will soon fix the bug. Samsung said they are \u201caware of the case of S10’s malfunctioning fingerprint recognition\u201d as per the report of BBC. \u201cWe are investigating this issue and will be deploying a software patch soon,\u201d a Samsung spokesperson told CNBC. However, the company did not give any details about the time for the software update.<\/p>\n
Fingerprint security methods are considered easier to use or more secure than traditional passcodes. Apple was the pioneer to popularize the fingerprint security method with the iPhone 5s and later introduced Face ID.
