The statement said there were \u201csome arrests,\u201d made but police didn\u2019t provide a number. Police spokesman Sgt. Lamont Washington wrote in an email to The Associated Press stating that, \u201cNo officers discharged their service weapons, and that all seven were civilians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-610 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/28louisville.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/newsraise.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/28louisville.jpg 600w, https:\/\/newsraise.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/28louisville-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Roundabout 700 demonstrators marched through the Kentucky city\u2019s downtown streets on Thursday night, as per reports. The protests stretched for more than 6 hours, ending early morning on Friday as rain poured down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnderstandably, emotions are high, as Breonna\u2019s mother says let\u2019s be peaceful as we work toward truth and justice,\u201d tweeted Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer just before midnight, sharing a Facebook post asking for peaceful protest.<\/p>\n<p>The mother of Breonna posted on Facebook saying, \u201cWe are so grateful for everyone giving Bre a voice tonight, for saying her name, for demeaning truth,\u2026 Do not succumb to the levels that we see out of the police,\u2026 do not resort to violence, we demand change, we demand reform,\u2026 we need our community to get justice\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Here&#8217;s audio of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RyanVanVelzer?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RyanVanVelzer<\/a> describing what he saw. The case has attracted national media coverage alongside the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery in a Georgia neighborhood in February.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday\u2019s protesters hailed from across the country, from Los Angeles to Memphis, Tennessee to New York to Minneapolis \u2014 to demand justice for yet another death of a black man, George Floyd, in Minneapolis police custody.<\/p>\n<p>A live video from the downtown protest shows police in body armour and face shields held batons and lined around the Louisville City Hall.
