The latest issue of Game Informer brings more than two dozen fresh details about Rockstar’s upcoming title, Grand Theft Auto VI. Central to the reveal are twelve brand‑new screenshots supplied by Rockstar for the magazine’s exclusive cover story. While the images cannot be reproduced here, the visuals confirm many of the features the studio has hinted at, from a tropical‑storm system to an expanded animal roster.
Biker gang and Ambrosia’s local hangout
One of the most striking scenes reintroduces the First Chapter, a motorcycle gang that dominates the Ambrosia region. The screenshots depict protagonist Jason fleeing a group of armed bikers after a confrontation. The gang’s likely headquarters appears to be The Thirsty Wolf bar, whose wooden interior, neon signage and pool table are rendered in fine detail. Aaron Garbut, Rockstar’s head of development, told Game Informer that buildings in GTA VI are “more real inside and out,” a claim supported by the bar’s authentic décor.
The gang’s uniform includes a badge denoting rank; the most prominent biker is a Sergeant‑at‑Arms, suggesting he serves as the club’s chief enforcer. Michael Kane, vice president of dynamic art, explained that the team paid “a crazy amount of attention” to culturally correct tattoos, and the Sergeant’s ink appears on screen. The same screenshot shows sunburned skin on the biker’s face, with sunglasses protecting the eyes, indicating that Rockstar will model tanning, freckles and moles on characters.
Body types, clothing and social features
Another beach shot set in Vice City showcases the series’ widest range of body types yet. Both Jason and Lucia appear toned, hinting at gym activity, while Rockstar has confirmed that characters will experience localized weight gain on specific body parts. The beach scene also features a sunbathing woman and Jason scrolling on a phone, confirming the return of Snapmatic – a social feed that players can view but not post to, preserving the criminals’ low‑profile approach.
Photography makes a comeback, as a man wielding an SLR‑style camera is shown in Mount Kalaga National Park. The same park screenshot shows Jason and Lucia jogging in athleisure wear, suggesting a possible wardrobe system for activity‑specific outfits. Kane added that the clothing roster reflects Florida’s local culture and includes the “biggest range of garments and accessories we’ve ever made.”
Activities, wildlife and weather
The screenshots confirm a host of new activities beyond the series’ staples. Mini‑golf, scuba diving, zoo visits, billiards, base jumping, air boating, kayaking and gym workouts are all hinted at. Hunting also returns: a screenshot of the Everglades‑like Grassrivers region shows a wooden cage for crabs and lobsters, while another image depicts Jason aiming a rifle at deer, echoing Red Dead Redemption 2’s hunting mechanics. Weapon customization appears deep, with Jason’s rifle sporting an autumnal camo pattern and Lucia wielding an M4 equipped with a silencer, red‑dot scope and forward grip.
Rockstar has disclosed that GTA VI will feature 170 animal species, including more than 60 birds and 30 land mammals. The new images display domestic dogs, alligators, bucks, does, ducks, seagulls and even pigeons scavenging trash, indicating that animal behavior will mirror real‑world patterns. The creatures are categorized as rare, discoverable or legendary, suggesting a tiered collection system.
Perhaps the most ambitious technical reveal concerns dynamic weather. Owen Shepherd, vice president of art for lighting and rendering, described fully dynamic cloudscapes with localized rain showers and Florida‑style stormy skies. One screenshot shows a plane cutting through thick, lightning‑streaked clouds, while another captures puddles left on the floor of The Thirsty Wolf after a rainstorm, confirming that water will persist on surfaces.
Even a more subdued image of a plane flying over trees adds to the world’s realism, underscoring Rockstar’s commitment to detail across every corner of the map.
Overall, the Game Informer exclusives paint a picture of a richer, more immersive GTA VI world, where weather, wildlife, character customization and everyday activities intertwine to create a living simulation of a modern, fictional Florida.
