New Khazalite Holds Armies of Renown Expand Duardin Options in Age of Sigmar

Games Workshop’s latest Khazalite Holds battletome introduces three distinct Armies of Renown, giving players new ways to field duardin forces in Warhammer Age of Sigmar. The new options focus on thematic mixes of Khazalite Holds miniatures with other duardin units, and each army comes with a suite of abilities that revolve around grudges, heroic traits, and combined‑arms tactics.

Valankrom’s War Throng centers on the High Kyng

The first army, Valankrom’s War Throng, builds around the centerpiece miniature High Kyng Valankrom on his War Throne. It pairs the Kyng with kromdron units such as Clanshields and Valayan Guardians, and adds rock‑hard Gholems as immovable bodyguards. The army’s signature ability, “The Audacity!”, lets the player declare any enemy unit that damaged Valankrom this turn as a “wrongdoer” for the remainder of the battle, applying extra grudge marks to attackers. A passive rule, “Remember Their Perfidy”, treats all friendly War Throng units as if they have one grudge mark while fighting a wrongdoer.

Valankrom himself is described as “hard as nails” and capable of delivering heavy damage with his relic hammer Bharadreng and the weapons of his Karak War Council, making him a potent centrepiece for aggressive play.

Fyrd of Fyrepeak fuels vengeance for Fyreslayers

The second option, Fyrd of Fyrepeak, is aimed at players who already run a sizable Fyreslayers army. It emphasizes the generation of grudge marks through combat kills. Each time a friendly Fyrd of Fyrepeak unit destroys an enemy unit, that unit gains one grudge mark. The army also includes a heroic ability called “Foeseeker”. When activated, the player selects an enemy hero as a nemesis for the battle. If the nemesis is slain by the declaring unit, every friendly Fyrd of Fyrepeak unit on the battlefield receives an additional grudge mark. A secondary effect grants a grudge mark to visible friendly units within 12 inches of the declaring unit if the nemesis dies nearby.

Fyrd of Fyrepeak units also have access to a set of five once‑per‑battle Ur‑gold rune abilities, each providing a temporary bonus for the round. One such rune, “Foeseeker”, allows re‑rolling of run and charge rolls for the rest of the battle round, provided no other Ur‑gold rune has been used that round.

Throngankor Alliance merges Khazalite Holds with Kharadron Overlords

The third army, Throngankor Alliance, creates a partnership between Khazalite Holds infantry and Kharadron Overlords sky‑vessels. At the start of each battle round, players may designate a non‑hero Khazalite Holds infantry unit and a non‑hero Kharadron Overlords infantry unit that are within half an inch of each other as “Stone and Sky” units. While they remain adjacent, they gain the Stone and Sky keyword and subtract one from wound rolls made against them, representing their close‑quarters resilience.

The alliance also includes a transport rule that lets Khazalite Holds infantry board a Kharadron skyvessel during the movement phase, then redeploy within six inches of the vessel after it moves. A “Hammer and Anvil” ability allows a non‑Stone and Sky Khazalite Holds or Kharadron unit engaged in combat (the anvil) to be paired with a ranged‑focused unit (the hammer) that can deliver critical hits to the anvil’s enemy target.

All three Armies of Renown are featured in the new Khazalite Holds battletome, which will be available for pre‑order on Saturday. The release adds a fresh duardin‑focused faction to Age of Sigmar, offering players multiple thematic pathways to build “fun and thematic” armies that blend the new Khazalite Holds models with existing duardin units.
