iOS 27 rolls out over 20 Apple Intelligence features

Apple’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 27, arrives with a sweeping set of artificial‑intelligence tools that the company brands as Apple Intelligence. The update adds more than twenty new capabilities, ranging from a completely reengineered Siri to system‑wide helpers for writing, calling and accessibility.

AI‑powered Siri gets a makeover

The virtual assistant receives a foundational overhaul designed for large‑language‑model interactions. Siri now draws on expansive world knowledge to answer a broader range of queries. It also taps into personal context, pulling information from Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes, Reminders and other apps to surface relevant results. Users can ask Siri about items displayed on the screen and receive actions that affect the current view.

Integration with third‑party apps expands as well; Siri can now initiate tasks such as sending messages or creating calendar events directly within supported applications. A dedicated Siri app keeps conversation history synced via iCloud, allowing users to resume interactions on any Apple device. The assistant also supports a “Write with Siri” mode, where spoken prompts generate drafts, edit existing text, or provide feedback in virtually any typing field. New visual‑intelligence features and expressive voice options, which let users adjust pacing and tone on compatible hardware, round out the upgrade.

Core apps receive AI upgrades

Apple Intelligence is baked into many of the system’s everyday apps. In Photos, users gain spatial reframing, an “Extend” tool and an enhanced clean‑up function. Messages now offers personalized Smart Reply suggestions, while Calendar and Reminders accept natural‑language descriptions to create events and tasks without manual entry. Mail benefits from suggestion prompts and its own Smart Reply feature.

Safari introduces a “Notify Me” alert, the ability to describe extensions in plain language, and automatic organization of tabs by topic. Shortcuts can be described verbally to generate new automations. The newly redesigned Image Playground app provides realistic image generation and wallpaper creation. Files suggests intelligent names for files and folders, and the Home app groups related activity notifications while adding AI‑driven search and captioning for HomeKit Secure Video. Journal supplies customized writing prompts for entries.

Systemwide intelligence features

Beyond individual apps, iOS 27 adds several OS‑level AI tools. Automatic proofreading delivers spelling and grammar suggestions across the system. A “Call Context” feature surfaces pertinent information on the screen when users are on business calls. Accessibility sees notable enhancements: VoiceOver can answer questions and deliver detailed image or scene descriptions, Voice Control gains flexible item naming, and the Accessibility Reader offers content cleanup and summarization.

These additions collectively aim to make everyday interactions more fluid, reducing the need for manual input and expanding the ways users can engage with their devices.

Apple also highlighted a selection of iPhone accessories, including a price‑reduced AirPods Pro 3, a MagSafe car mount, a 10‑year AirTag battery case, the new AirTag 2, and a 100 W USB‑C fast‑charging adapter.
