Prakash Raj Claims

Actor Prakash Raj has claimed that his name has been deleted from the electoral rolls in Bengaluru during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. In a video post shared on his social media account, Raj stated that he was one of the 65 lakh voters whose voting rights had been deleted after the SIR process.

Raj expressed surprise at the development, saying he was born in the constituency, had his schooling and college there, and was even an MP candidate from the area. He said he would look into the process to get his voter ID back, asking what documents he would need to show to restore his voting rights.

The actor also took a dig at the ruling dispensation, saying that while they might try to deny some citizens the right to vote, they could not stop people from bringing about change. Raj’s statement came after it was reported that his name had been deleted from the electoral rolls.

Response from Civic Body

The Bengaluru Central City Corporation has responded to Raj’s claims, stating that the actor’s name was deleted from the electoral rolls because he had permanently shifted from his registered address. According to the civic body, a house-to-house verification conducted by the Booth Level Officer (BLO) found that Raj had moved out of the flat at No 266, Garden Apartment.

The BLO had conducted an inquiry with the neighbors and the property manager, and it was confirmed by the owner of the flat that Raj had not been residing in the flat for the past four years. The civic body said that the action was taken in accordance with the due process of law and the statutory guidelines laid down by the Election Commission of India.

The property manager had reaffirmed this fact via a telephone call, and the civic body said that Raj had confirmed that he was not residing at the address when spoken to over the telephone. The actor is currently residing in the Shantinagar Assembly Constituency at a different address, and the civic body said that he could apply for a new voter ID at his current address using the BLO Form-6.

Previous Controversy

This development comes after Raj was granted conditional bail in a criminal case arising from a private complaint alleging that he illegally possessed four voter identity cards registered at different locations. A non-bailable warrant had been issued against him in connection with the case.

The civic body has stated that the allegations made by Raj are not true and that the action was taken in accordance with the law. The matter is likely to generate further controversy, with Raj being a vocal critic of the ruling dispensation.

Raj’s claim of his name being deleted from the electoral rolls has sparked a debate about the SIR process and the rights of citizens to vote. The actor’s decision to speak out on the issue is likely to draw attention to the matter and raise questions about the fairness of the electoral process.

Conclusion

The controversy surrounding Prakash Raj’s voter ID is a significant development in the ongoing debate about the electoral process in India. The actor’s claim that his name was deleted from the electoral rolls without his knowledge has raised questions about the fairness and transparency of the SIR process. As the matter continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the civic body and the election authorities will respond to Raj’s allegations and what steps will be taken to address the concerns of citizens whose voting rights have been affected.
