According to a leak posted on X on 1 October, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is likely to look almost identical on the front to its predecessor, the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The tipster known as Ice Universe shared images of purported screen protectors that appear to fit both models, implying that the bezel ratio, curved edges and overall shape will remain unchanged. If accurate, the design gap between two consecutive Ultra flagships would be the smallest ever recorded for Samsung’s premium line.
Front design appears unchanged
Ice Universe’s post highlighted that screen protectors designed for the S26 Ultra could be used on the S27 Ultra, reinforcing the notion that Samsung intends to keep the front‑face aesthetics steady. The leak described the front as retaining the same 6.9‑inch panel size, with a resolution of 1,440 × 3,120 pixels. Samsung’s “Privacy Display” feature, which dims the screen for onlookers, is also expected to continue on the new model.
While the visual envelope may stay the same, the tipster noted that the similarity does not guarantee identical hardware beneath the glass. The front camera, for instance, could receive an upgrade. Earlier reports from July and a repeat in September suggested that Samsung plans to replace the current 12‑megapixel selfie sensor with a 16‑megapixel unit. The leak did not confirm whether the new sensor would be integrated into the unchanged front housing, but the possibility aligns with Samsung’s pattern of improving camera performance while preserving design language.
Hardware upgrades under the familiar exterior
Beyond the front panel, the leak points to several substantive internal changes. GSMArena has linked the S27 Ultra to Samsung’s forthcoming M16 OLED display. The M16 panel is billed to improve brightness, colour accuracy and power efficiency compared with the display used in the S26 Ultra. If the new panel is adopted, users could see a brighter screen in outdoor conditions and longer battery life despite a larger capacity.
The battery is expected to see a notable increase. While the S26 Ultra ships with a 5,000 mAh unit, the S27 Ultra is rumored to house a 5,700 mAh cell. The larger battery could explain the modest weight gain reported in the leak. Ice Universe cited a weight of roughly 218 grams, while another recent source placed the figure at 215 grams. By comparison, the S26 Ultra weighs 214 grams. The slight increase in mass is consistent with the higher‑capacity battery and possibly other component upgrades.
Dimensions, weight and overall build
Earlier CAD‑based leaks suggested a thickness of about 7.97 mm for the S27 Ultra. Ice Universe refined that estimate to roughly 7.9 mm, placing the new phone almost on par with the S26 Ultra’s thickness. The combination of a similar thickness, a marginally higher weight and a larger battery paints a picture of a device that feels familiar in hand while offering longer endurance.
Samsung has not issued any official statement confirming the design, specifications or launch timeline for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The company traditionally unveils its flagship S series in early 2027, and the timing of the X leak aligns with that expectation. Until Samsung makes a formal announcement, the details remain speculative, albeit sourced from recognized leakers such as Ice Universe and technology site GSMArena.
In summary, the current leak suggests that Samsung may prioritize continuity in the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s outward appearance, preserving the sleek front design that defined the S26 Ultra. At the same time, the device could benefit from a next‑generation OLED panel, a higher‑resolution front camera, a larger battery and modest adjustments to thickness and weight. If the rumors prove true, the S27 Ultra would represent an evolution that leans heavily on internal refinement rather than a visual redesign.
