India’s home‑grown e‑commerce platform Flipkart disclosed that its annual Big Billion Days (TBBD) event will return for a 13th edition on October 9, 2026. Early access to the sale is slated for October 8 and will be available to members of Flipkart Plus, BLACK and holders of the Flipkart credit card.
Scale and seller participation
CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy highlighted the growth of digital commerce in India, noting that the platform now serves 500 million registered customers and works with 1.4 million sellers. He added that the current supply chain reaches remote locations such as Leh and Kargil for the first time, and that the festive season alone will bring nearly 75,000 new entrants into the formal workforce.
TBBD 2026 will showcase 150 million products spanning everyday essentials, flagship electronics, premium fashion, beauty, large appliances and festive gifting. The event promises the broadest new‑launch lineup ever for mobiles, large appliances, and beauty and personal‑care items, along with more than 1,200 fashion trends offered at the lowest prices of the year.
Seller participation is set to hit a new high, with over a 60 percent increase in transacting sellers compared with the previous edition and a doubling of new product selection for shoppers. The introduction of a zero‑percent commission model across all fashion price points has already attracted 75 percent more sellers ahead of the sale.
In addition, more than 2.5 crore (25 million) units from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), artisans and weavers have been pre‑positioned in Ekart fulfilment centres, giving local businesses direct exposure to the platform’s 500 million‑strong customer base.
Supply‑chain expansion and quick‑commerce growth
Flipkart’s logistics arm Ekart has added 14 million cubic feet of warehousing space, a 50 percent boost in storage capacity, while automation upgrades have lifted peak processing capability by more than 30 percent. The company also rolled out over 900 new delivery hubs and opened more than 750 additional PIN codes, including the newly serviced regions of Leh, Kargil and several northeastern communities. These expansions enable same‑day and next‑day delivery across a larger swath of the country than ever before.
Flipkart Minutes, the platform’s quick‑commerce offering, has grown fourfold year‑on‑year. It now operates in more than 150 cities and covers over 9,000 PIN codes through roughly 1,200 micro‑fulfilment centres. For the festive period, Minutes will present more than 77,000 products across 1,400 categories, ranging from daily staples and farm‑fresh produce to premium electronics and last‑minute gifts. Tier‑2‑plus cities such as Patna, Jaipur, Guwahati, Siliguri and Salem are emerging as key growth hubs, reflecting rapid quick‑commerce adoption beyond the metros.
Workforce impact and AI‑driven shopping experience
Flipkart estimates that the festive season will generate over 2.5 lakh (250,000) direct and indirect employment opportunities, with nearly 75,000 individuals joining the workforce for the first time. Women now constitute more than 20 percent of the company’s supply‑chain workforce.
All employees, referred to as Wishmasters, receive term life insurance, personal accident cover and mediclaim benefits, along with a 24‑hour Doctor on Call service for themselves and their families.
The TBBD platform is built on an AI‑native commerce engine designed to serve shoppers with enhanced trust and safety. Customers can search and shop using text, voice or images, while a conversational AI assistant helps translate broad needs into specific product recommendations. A personalised AI‑curated feed surfaces relevant items and offers for each user.
Sellers and creators can leverage an AI‑powered Creator Studio to transform catalogues into rich, scalable content. Delivery Intelligence, driven by AI‑enhanced geocoding and last‑mile orchestration, aims to improve both speed and accuracy throughout the fulfilment network.
Overall, the 13th edition of Big Billion Days positions Flipkart as a central player in India’s evolving retail landscape, combining expanded product assortments, deeper seller engagement, extensive logistics upgrades and sophisticated artificial‑intelligence tools to meet the aspirations of a growing consumer base.
