Bihar Election 2025: ‘Finding NiMo’ Script History with 200+ Seats

As the NDA crossed the 200-plus-seat victory, Amit Shah stated the “purification of voters’ lists” is the mood of the entire nation and there can be no politics against it.

After 8 hours of an intensive vote counting, the NDA secured a clear lead with 203 seats in their courtyard, out of the total 243. With leads on 94 seats, the BJP walked quite comfortably towards a record victory, remaining unscathed throughout the chaos of it all.

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar-led NDA is set for a massive comeback in the Bihar polls, a fifth consecutive term, which has already crowned him the longest serving CM of the state. By exceeding past the 200-mark, with the cut off at just 122, the Indian political landscape is set to witness a renaissance in Bihar, infamous for being a state with one of the lowest per capita incomes across the country.

In contrast, the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan struggled to match with its previous tally, with the Congress failing to deliver the expected strike rate to help Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son secure the CM’s chair. The Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) was poised at 81 seats as of 1600 Hrs. Chirag Paswan’s LJP-RV had a 19-seat lead, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM is leading on 5 seats, and RLM led on 4 seats. The Bihar Election 2025 turned out to be a completely one-sided affair; as anticipated by the exit polls and much to the disappointment of many onlookers.

The Political Roadmap

With a 101-seat candidature for both BJP and JD(U), divided equally between the two biggest parties of the National Democratic Alliance, the PM-Modi led Bhartiya Janta Party was ahead in 95 of those seats; a clear sign of resounding success and the unspoken monopoly especially in a state like Bihar, which has for long been a tough battleground.

With the results now out in the open, what has emerged as a clear strategy is the ‘NiMo’ narrative – a catalyst that worked miraculously in NDA’s favour to make it a unidirectional contest from the beginning. With Congress in the slump, Rahul Gandhi nearly inching towards an all-time low and the highly optimistic Tejashwi Yadav facing defeat, the BJP-JD(U) combination turned out to be an unstoppable force of nature.

Their collective political acumen, alliance expertise and unprecedented importance on the ‘social welfare’ ideology worked in their favour – helping the ‘Mahila Yojana’ category to connect and vote for their candidates. Chirag Paswan, the dynamic leader of LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) and one of the crucial components of the NDA set up, has strengthened his footing even further in the state of Bihar. His precision and panache have consolidated the NDA multifold.

ECI’s Observations

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has described the Bihar Assembly 2025 polls as a ‘model election’, noting zero repolls and record voter participation.

  • Tight security measures were ensured at 46 counting centres across 38 districts, with over 4300 counting tables manned by supervisors, assistants, and micro-observers, alongside more than 18,000 candidate-appointed counting agents.

As soon as the results were declared, PM Narendra Modi sent out an official congratulatory message from his X account and lauded the cumulative efforts of all the stakeholders.

The people have given us a massive majority after witnessing our track record and our vision to take the state to new heights. “Victory of development has been achieved. Victory of the spirit of public welfare has been achieved. Victory of social justice has been achieved,” PM Modi’s post read.

This was its best performance ever in Bihar, especially of the Bhartiya Janta Party. Looks like with this renewed energy, unconditional public support and a fortified vision board ahead of them, the BJP-JD(U) coupling in the National Democratic Alliance will now rise to a new dawn and usher in a new era in Bihar’s political trajectory.
