Pakistan’s Spy Game Exposed: Indian Police Arrests Suspects

Days after Operation Sindoor being halted due to the supposed ceasefire agreement, the Indian government in conjunction with the local police officials have carried out crucial operations, with the at least 12 people facing arrest for allegedly being a part of Pakistan’s spy operations.

These arrests over the last two weeks were made in wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, which includes local residents from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. A notable YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, a factory worker and a post-graduate student were part of the people taken into police custody for their reported involvement. Pakistan’s espionage seems to have been finally busted and uncovered by Indian police forces, as they tracked down the traitors in the last few days.

The details of selective arrested individuals were gathered and shared by the press publications, enlisted below.

1) Jyoti Malhotra – This young woman YouTuber was in contact with an individual named Danish, a Pakistani official. Their involvement began during a visit to the Pakistan High Commission seeking a visa to visit the neighbouring nation. Danish is the same official who was recently declared persona non grata by India.

  • She was allegedly in touch with several PIOs and Pakistani officials during the recent military conflict. Currently under police custody, her financial transactions and travel details are under scanner. Indian officials as per news reports suspect that Jyoti Malhotra was being cultivated as an asset for future spy operations.

2) Guzala – Another woman identified is a 31-year-old woman Guzala, who has supposedly confessed to sharing details on the Indian Army’s activities with Pakistani officials in Delhi for money.

3) Shahzad – This local resident from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by Moradabad, Special Task Force on May 18, Sunday for his alleged involvement in cross-border smuggling and passing sensitive national security related information. This was shared with Pakistani handlers by travelling to the neighbouring country multiple times.

4) Mohammad Tarif – Tarif has been accused of leaking sensitive intelligence information on India’s military activities to Pakistan. He allegedly confessed to have visited Pakistan and establishing contact with employees at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. This suspect hails from Nuh district in Haryana.

5) Armaan – Another individual from the same region as Tarif is Armaan, a Haryana native. He allegedly shared information related to the Indian Army and other military activities with Pakistan through an employee posted at the High Commission of Pakistan in New Delhi. The accused is suspected to have shared such information for a long time through WhatsApp chats and social media platforms.

6) Nauman Ilahi – A native of UP’s Panipat district, he was arrested by the state police for allegedly supplying covert and secret information to some individuals in Pakistan. He was working as a factory security guard and was living with his sister and brother-in-law in Panipat’s Hali Colony.

7) Sukhpreet and Karanbir Singh – This suspected couple from Gurdaspur in Punjab was arrested as part of the alleged spies identified and the Punjab police recovered three mobile phones and eight live cartridges from their possession.

During Operation Sindoor, the duo allegedly informed Pakistan about troop movements and details of key strategic locations in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. They were previously involved in drug smuggling activities as well. Gurdaspur was one of the major areas that witnessed blackout and heavy artillery shelling for several nights.

 

Apart from the above names, several other people were zeroed in too in the suspect list and carried out financial transactions on behalf of Pakistan’s officials to fund their activities here. Yameen Mohammed from Punjab, Devender Singh from Haryana and more. They were in contact with Pakistani intelligence operatives since last year and allegedly sent photos of the Patiala cantonment by clicking pictures from outside.

While these suspects are in official police custody presently, officials said the arrests have showcased a new kind of warfare, which involves Pakistan militants and army officials pushing their narrative by recruiting influencers. All the accused are suspected to be passing sensitive information to Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) and a detailed enquiry is currently underway into the history of financial transactions and digital trail of their electronic devices.
