Good news for central government employees! Pension raised to Rs 1,25,000 per month

With an updated change on Family Pension schemes, Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday declared that the upper ceiling of the family benefits office has been raised from Rs 45,000 to Rs 1,25,000 every month.

“The amount of both the family pensions will now be restricted to ₹1,25,000 per month, which is over two and half times higher than the earlier limit,” said Jitendra Singh.

According to the news, he said that now the total amount of such two installments cannot exceed Rs 1.25 lakh. This is an increase of two and a half times over the previous limit. According to the Central Civil Service (Pension) Regulations 1972, if both husband and wife are in government service and fall under this rule, in the event of their death, their surviving child will be eligible to get two family pensions of their parents.

CCS pension rule:

Citing sub-rule (11) of rule 54 of the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules 1972, the Minister said in case both wife and husband are government servants and are governed by the provisions of that rule, on their death, the surviving child is eligible for two family pensions in respect of the deceased parents.

Cue from 6th CPC:

 Prior directions set out that the aggregate sum of two-family pensions in such cases, will not surpass to Rs 45,000 per month and Rs 27,000 per month, which were resolved at the pace of 50% and 30 percent, individually assessing the most significant compensation of Rs 90,000 according to sixth CPC suggestions.

Guidelines:

Recently, the Department of Welfare and Pensioners Welfare Department has issued a directive regarding pension of those children, siblings of deceased government servant, pensioner who are not mentally or physically competent. It states that if the total income eligible family pension is less than 30 percent of the last salary taken by the deceased government employee, pensioner, then they will be entitled to family pension for the whole life. They will also be eligible for dearness relief.
