Tim Cook Met Chinese Regulator for ‘Deep Discussion,’ Says the Chinese Government

The latest news from China happens to be quite harmful to Apple, which has taken actions and defended all those actions against Hongkong protestors. According to the latest reports, based on official statements via the Chinese government, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, had met one of the topmost Chinese regulators to get involved in a ‘deep discussion’. The sources from the Chinese government says that the regulator and China did discuss a variety of matters, including but not limited to CSR, consumer rights protection, etc.

The issue is that the meeting apparently took place a few days after Tim Cook defended Apple’s decision to block the HKmap app from the App Store. The app, which was being used by Hong Kong protestors, did have an ability to mark the real-time location of police vehicles. After the app went down, the Hong Kong protestors have been facing communication issues. It is clear that Apple removing the app from the App Store was an unquestionably political decision and now analysts believe that Apple may get receive some benefits from the current Chinese government.

“Expanding Apple’s investment and business development in China, consumer rights protection and fulfilling corporate social responsibility” were some of the things that were included in the aforesaid deep discussion sets. This is based on the information shared by the government office itself. Neither the government or the trillion-dollar company has provided further details about what was being discussed. However, considering that China is one of the strongest markets for Apple, there will be some benefits for the company, at least in the long run.

In addition, the country is expected to be the host for the World Internet Conference, where the tech giant will have its own contribution. The protestors are keeping their voices active in Hong Kong still.
